Luke Clanton, South Florida PGA Junior Tour Alumni Makes PGA TOUR History.
From a young prodigy on the South Florida PGA Junior Tour to making history as the first amateur in over 60 years to finish in the top 10 in back-to-back PGA TOUR tournaments, Luke Clanton's journey is remarkable. Currently a rising junior at Florida State University, Clanton's dedication and talent have propelled him to extraordinary heights in the world of golf. He is currently ranked third in the World Amateur Golf Ranking.
Clanton began playing tournaments at the age of six. His skills were evident early on as he dominated U.S. Kids events, winning all local competitions, claiming state titles, and triumphing in regional events. His success on the world stage was equally impressive, as he earned first place at the 2015 U.S. Kids World Championship.
Clanton's excellence extended beyond U.S. Kids events. He won nearly all the events he participated in with the Gold Coast Junior Golf Foundation, Inc., and was undefeated for four years in South West Junior Open tournaments leading up to his college career. Prior to joining the Florida State University golf team, Clanton honed his skills on the South Florida PGA Junior Tour from 2014 to 2017, consistently winning in his age divisions or finishing in the top five.
His transition to collegiate golf has been seamless. He finished the college season as the highest-ranked player in the NCAA Golf rankings. His recent performances on the TOUR underscore his rise to becoming a future star, with a tied tenth-place finish at the Rocket Mortgage Classic and an impressive second-place tie this past weekend at the John Deere Classic, where he scored 24-under-par.
Clanton's journey is an inspiration to all aspiring golfers. His achievements remind us of the incredible talent fostered within the South Florida PGA Junior Tour and the bright future ahead for our young members. We wish him the best of luck in this weekend’s tournament at the ISCO Championship in Kentucky.
