Over the weekend, the South Florida PGA Prep Tour Players kicked off their 2024 season with back-to-back events. The first event was held at Shell Point Golf Club on Saturday, followed by another event on Sunday at Sandridge Golf Club. Both events had a field of nearly 90 players, ranging from ages 9 to 18.
At Shell Point, Juan Iglesias of Fort Myers fired a tournament-low score of 4-under, 67. He finished in first place in the Boy's 13-18 division.
Solomon Ruttenberg of Boca Raton won the Boy's 11-12 division after collecting four birdies on the front nine. Brianna Breto of Hialeah won the Girl's 13-18 division with a one-stroke lead over Anisleidy Chavez of Florida City. Victoria Frias of Parkland made history in the Girl's 9-10 division by shooting even-par to win the event by 20 strokes.
On Sunday, the players moved to Sandridge Golf Club in Vero Beach, where Luke Falcone claimed his first Prep Tour victory in the Boy's 13-18 division. Jack Green of Lithia came up short of the lead, despite carding two eagles in his front nine. In the Girl's 13-18 division, Darci Wagner and Leilani Kellerman tied for first place at 12-over, 84. Wagner won in a scorecard playoff for the honors. Flynn Lewis of Jupiter and Alyna Yensebai of Lake Worth finished in first place in the Boy's and Girl's 11-12 divisions, respectively.
Congratulations to all the Prep Tour Champions! The organizers, Paul Fitzpatrick, PGA and Bela Nagy, PGA, and their teams did an excellent job hosting both events.
