Tour Levels

The South Florida PGA is committed to providing junior golfers with a variety of fun and competitive junior golf events.  We have developed a progression ladder that is intended to place junior golfers in the right environment based on their playing experience.  Our levels of junior golf programs are intended to provide juniors with a clear path for their playing careers from ages 6-18.  Starting with our Team Golf Program, which is designed for beginners, to our Championship Tour, which is designed for our elite level players, the South Florida PGA has a home for all young golfers!

Team Golf

Team Golf is a great way to get kids involved in the game of golf in a team environment. The basic premise is to create a team atmosphere for young golfers ages 6-14, not much different than what you see in soccer and baseball leagues. Similar to other youth sports, teams have weekly practices where golf instruction is provided by local PGA and LPGA Professionals serving as team coaches at public and private golf facilities throughout south Florida. Teams and players compete in weekly or bi-monthly 9-hole tournaments against other local area teams. The format is a two-person Scramble playing from modified yardages, and tournaments are hosted at nearby facilities. Participants of Team Golf are part of an exciting approach to learning and having FUN on the golf course.

           PGA Junior League Golf

PGA Junior League Golf is designed to place kids in a more competitive environment than Team Golf, yet still keep the team atmosphere.  PGA Junior League Golf is a fun, social and inclusive opportunity for boys and girls ages 13 and under to learn and enjoy the game of golf. Much like other recreational league sports, participants wear numbered jerseys and play on teams with their friends. Each team is captained by a PGA or LPGA Professional, who serves as the coach and is at the forefront of creating a welcoming environment for all to enjoy the game. PGA Junior League Golf utilizes a popular scramble format that creates a nurturing environment for learning and development – both on and off course. With more than 2,900 teams and 36,000 participants in 2016 – and Ambassadors like Rory McIlroy and Michelle Wie –  PGA Junior League Golf has wide-ranging appeal for both youth and their parents.

                        Prep Tour

The South Florida PGA Junior Prep Tour is a series of one-day, 18 hole events at some of South Florida’s premiere facilities. The purpose of the Junior Prep Tour is to bridge the gap for kids that have advanced through the 9 hole Team Golf format but are not ready for the next step in competitive golf. The Junior Prep Tour features competitive 18-hole events for golfers ages 9-18 who are looking to gain tournament experience. Age divisions for the Junior Prep Tour are Boys and Girls (9-10-11-12, and 13-18)

                                         Challenge Tour

The South Florida PGA Junior Challenge Tour is a series of two-day, 36 hole events at some of South Florida’s premiere facilities. The Challenge Tour is designed to be the next step after players are comfortable with Team Golf and the Prep Tour. Membership is open to all juniors 11-18 who meet specific requirements. All Challenge Tour events are nationally ranked by Junior Golf Scoreboard. All Challenge Tour events are 36-hole events, with a Boys (11-12, 13-15, and 16-18) and Girls (11-12, 13-15, and 16-18) division.                                                                  Championship Tour
