The Ryder Cup Junior Golf Academy has been developed by The PGA of America to provide talented young players an opportunity to experience an elite player-development academy. This program is designed to give those who would not be able to afford such a program the opportunity to continue pursuing their passion in golf.The Ryder Cup Junior Golf Academy is a seven-day program where juniors are given professional instruction while expanding their knowledge on the history and format of the Ryder Cup. A total of 2 juniors, one boy and one girl ages 14-17, will be selected from the South Florida Section to attend this amazing opportunity.Now in its 2nd year, the Academy proves to be an amazing week for juniors involved. For information on the 2011 South Florida representatives’ time at the Academy, please click here.The selection process will be conducted by the South Florida Section staff and will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
- Academics (minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5)
- Desire and ability to excel in competitive golf
- Financially unable to attend other elite player development academies
The selected representatives will receive an all-expenses paid trip to the PGA Center for Golf Learning and Performance in Port St. Lucie, FL.
The next Ryder Cup Junior Golf Academy will be held in 2014.
