Prep Tour Player of the Year Awards Announced

This past Sunday marked the end of the 2020 season for the SFPGA Prep Tour. Seventy two juniors took on the Fazio Course at PGA National Golf Club & Resort for the Prep Tour Championship.


In each age division, Player of the Year trophies were awarded to the top junior player who accumulated the highest number of points throughout the season.


Dax Greenwood of Naples claimed the Player of the Year trophy for the boys 13-18 division. Greenwood competed in 10 events this season with a scoring average of 78.7. With three wins and one runner-up finish, Greenwood earned 1,462.50 points, more than 500 points ahead of Alexander Huddas of North Palm Beach.


In the girls 13-18 division, Zoe Shamy of Jupiter earned 1,825 points to claim the Player of the Year trophy. With a 700 point lead ahead of Amelia Alonso of Fort Myers, Shamy safely secured the honor. Shamy competed in 11 events this season, finishing with five first-place wins and three runner-up positions.


Wylie Inman of North Palm Beach competed in 11 events this season with a scoring average of 72.4 to earn himself the Player of the Year title for the boys 11-12 division. Inman had eight first-place finishes and two runner-up finishes.


In the girls 11-12 division, Keira Ly of Delray Beach claimed the Player of the Year trophy. Ly competed in 11 events and carded a low round of 79 this year. She had two wins and finished runner-up in two events.


Tyler Lilienfeld of Palm City claimed the title for the boys 9-10 division. Lilienfeld competed in 10 events this season with a low round of 71. With three wins and five runner-up finishes, Lilienfeld earned himself 2,075 points.


Danielle Hernandez of Miami took home the girls 9-10 division Player of the Year trophy. Hernandez competed in eight events this season with a low round of 80. The four wins and three runner-up finishes earned her 1,375 points.

Over the St. Patrick's Day weekend, the newly named Callaway Medalist Tour presented by Toptracer hosted a 36-hole golf event at Osprey Point's Raven and Falcon Golf Course for the 13-18 divisions. The event featured great golf and several low scores, with two champions finishing at 4-under. Emma Mckoan of Naples won the Girl's 13-18 division, while Hampton Beebe of West Palm Beach won the Boy's 13-18 division, both finishing with a total of 69-71–140. Mckoan carded a career-best 3-under, 69 during Saturday's round. One shot behind Mckoan was Catherine Andino and Roisin Scanlon at 2-under, 70. Mckoan carried her momentum into the final round where she carded three more birdies and an eagle to finish with a total 4-under, 140. Andino and Roisin finished with exact scores of 70-71-141 for runner-up. In the Boy's 13-18 division, Cameron Kuchar of Harrison, Idaho, and Hampton Beebe of West Palm Beach both finished Saturday's round at 3-under. Beebe, a 2023-24 Birdie Club member, was hot with his putter, carding a total of eight birdies throughout the weekend and finishing one stroke ahead of Emile Lebrun of Port Saint Lucie in second. Both Girl's and Boy's champions will receive 4 AJGA stars, and the top 105 players in each age division will receive one star. Congratulations to our champions! Leaderboard

WEST PALM BEACH, FL - The South Florida PGA Junior Tour has joined forces with Callaway and Toptracer to introduce the Callaway Medalist Tour, presented by Toptracer and the Toptracer Prep Tour, presented by Callaway. The South Florida PGA Junior Tour has partnered with Callaway and Toptracer to enhance its impact on youth. The tour offers a journey for players ranging from 6 to 18 years old through three different tours: the Links Tour, the Toptracer Prep Tour presented by Callaway, and the Callaway Medalist Tour presented by Toptracer. "We are thrilled to announce that Callaway and Toptracer have joined our Junior Golf Family as partners," said Meredith Schuler, Assistant Executive Director of the South Florida PGA. "Both brands have been outstanding partners for us at the section level, and we are confident that they will help us elevate the standard of competition and further grow our Junior Tour." The announcement comes on the heels of the start of the 2024 Junior Tour season which is celebrating its 25th anniversary. In 1999 the Junior Tour hosted, without partnership support, six events for 80 juniors, this year the Junior Tour, now presented by Callaway and Toptracer, will conduct close to 100 events for 1,200 juniors. Junior Tour members represent over seven thousand rounds of golf annually. In a partnership that is the first-of-its-kind for the SFPGA Junior Tour, Callaway and Toptracer which are housed under the parent company Topgolf, will join the South Florida PGA in its mission to promote junior golf, providing affordable competition and premiere events to junior golfers. “We are looking forward to expanding our reach in the junior golf space,” said Callaway Director of Sales Peter Barry. “The explosion of golf and the future of our game begins and ends with junior golf and we are thrilled to work with the South Florida PGA to build upon their existing incredible junior golf program.” The South Florida PGA Junior Tour, presented by Callaway and Toptracer will continue its 25th anniversary campaign with events this weekend. The Callaway Medalist Tour, presented by Toptracer kicks off 36 holes at Osprey Point Golf Course on Saturday, March 16th while the Toptracer Prep Tour, presented by Callaway will play Sandridge Golf Club. The 9-hole, beginner-level Links Tour will play Sunday, March 17th at The Links at Boynton Beach. The first event was held at Shell Point Golf Club on Saturday, followed by another event on Sunday at Sandridge Golf Club. Both events had a field of nearly 90 players, ranging from ages 9 to 18.
