On April 2, five south Florida PGA juniors competed in the Drive, Chip and Putt Championship at Augusta National on the eve of the 2017 Masters.
Braden Miller of Naples competed in the Boys 10-11 Age Division and finished T8. His best skill was the chipping competition where he took fourth place. Braden’s dad, Jason Miller is the PGA Head Golf Professional at Copperleaf Golf Club in Naples.
Sam Kodak of Naples competed in the Boys 12-13 Age Division. He finished T7 and took second place in the Drive skill. This was Sam’s second appearance in the Drive, Chip and Putt Finals as he also competed in 2014.
Kayla Bryant of Boca Raton competed in the Girls 7-9 Age Division. Her best skill was in putting where she finished third place.
Chloe Kovelesky, also of Boca Raton, competed in the Girls 10-11 Age Division. Chloe was tied for the lead after the Drive and Chip skill but ended up taking second place overall.
Alexa Pano of Lake Worth competed in the Girls 12-13 Age Division and took home her second consecutive Drive, Chip and Putt Championship. This was her third time competing in the finals as she qualified in 2013 and 2015. Her consistency in all three skills was a recipe for success as she placed third in Driving and Putting and fourth in Chipping which gave her the overall title.
All five qualifiers are active on the South Florida PGA Junior Tours. Alexa Pano competes on the Championship Tour; Chloe Kovelesky and Sam Kodak compete on the Challenge Tour; Kayla Bryant competes on the Prep Tour and Braden Miller competes in Team Golf.
Congratulations to all five for representing south Florida. We look forward to watching their success on the SFPGA Junior Tour and beyond!
