ATLANTIS, Fla. – This weekend, the South Florida PGA Junior Challenge Tour presented by The Honda Classic held Challenge Event #5 at St. Lucie Trail Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, FL.  The tournament featured warm weather combined with a golf course in pristine condition. 


Palm City native Garret Giles is off to a great year after winning Challenge Event #3 and finishing in the top 10 at each of the events this season.  Giles put on another impressive display this week in Port St. Lucie.  Giles fired an opening round 2-over-par 74 on a narrow golf course with quick greens.  Plantation native Jackson Kustin fired an opening round 4-over-par 76 to stay within striking distance of the lead.  Giles remained steady during Thursday’s final round, firing a 4-over-par 76 to capture the overall boy’s title.  Homestead native Anthony Amoroso took home the boy’s 13-15 age division, while Wellington native Louis Serrone took home the boy’s 16-18 age division. 


Port St. Lucie native Brianna Fitzpatrick took the opening round lead in the girls division and never looked back.  Fitzpatrick fired an opening round 79 and followed it up with a final round 76 to capture the overall girl’s title.  Port St. Lucie native Nicole Cee would take home the girl’s 13-15 age division, while Jupiter native Brianna Farrell took home the girl’s 16-18 age division. 


Nashawn Tyson is still riding his confidence after winning the South Florida Junior PGA Championship 9-12 age division.  The North Palm Beach youngster fired rounds of 71-75 to take home the boy’s 11-12 age division.  Weston native Gabriela Sierra took home the girl’s 11-12 age division after rounds of 83-80.

The SFPGA Junior Tour presented by The Honda Classic is a membership-based tour open to boys and girls ages 11-18 in South Florida with the aspirations and skill levels to compete at the High School and Collegiate level and features some of South Florida’s most talented junior golfers. The Junior Tour offers twenty-five two day championship events for junior golfers in South Florida. The 28 events are divided between the Championship Tour, an invitational tour featuring extended yardages, and the Challenge Tour.
