ATLANTIS, Fla. – This week, the South Florida PGA Junior Tour held it’s second Junior Major of the season at the Naples Beach Club in Naples, FL. This was the first 54 hole tournament conducted by the South Florida PGA Junior Tour.   

Miami Lakes native Luke Clanton has been one of the top youngster’s on the junior tour over the past 3 years.  This season Clanton has overtaken the boy’s 13-18 age division on the Junior Tour.  Clanton captured the first 3 Challenge Tour events of the season putting himself in prime position heading into the summer season.  Clanton captured the first Junior Major of 2017 back in June after winning the 2017 South Florida Junior PGA Championship.  This week Clanton continued to etch his name in the South Florida Junior Golf history books.  Clanton went wire to wire at the Naples Beach Club with rounds of 71-70-69 to capture the South Florida Junior Open boy’s division.  Palm City native Garrett Giles went on to capture the boys 13-15 age division, while Pembroke Pines native Tyler Pham captured the boys 16-18 age division.

Boca Raton native Taylor Caradonna has also put together an incredible 2017 season.  The 16 year old captured the 2017 South Florida Junior PGA Championship back in June.  This week, Caradonna also went wire to wire with rounds of 73-74-77 to capture the 2017 South Florida Junior Open girl’s division.  Port St. Lucie native Nicole Cee took home the girls 13-15 age division, while West Palm Beach native Hannah Rizzolo took home the girls 16-18 age division. 

Clanton and Caradonna will each be heading to the National Junior PGA Championship in Missouri over the next two weeks to represent the South Florida PGA section. 

Boynton Beach native Max Jelinek had a great come back in the boys 11-12 age division this week.  Jelinek fired an opening round 84, but fought back with rounds of 74 and 75 to capture the boys 11-12 age division.  Port St. Lucie native Brianna Castaldi also had a come from behind win in the girls 11-12 age division.  Castaldi fired rounds of 77-76-83.

The SFPGA Junior Tour presented by The Honda Classic is a membership-based tour open to boys and girls ages 11-18 in South Florida with the aspirations and skill levels to compete at the High School and Collegiate level and features some of South Florida’s most talented junior golfers. The Junior Tour offers twenty-five two day championship events for junior golfers in South Florida. The 28 events are divided between the Championship Tour, an invitational tour featuring extended yardages, and the Challenge Tour.
