ATLANTIS, Fla. – This week, the South Florida PGA Junior Challenge Tour presented by The Honda Classic held Challenge Event #6 at the beautiful Loxahatchee Club in Jupiter, FL.  Players were treated with a fantastic golf course that provided a true test of golf to the youngsters.


Wellington native Fernando Castillo put together an impressive week on the 6,500 yard course.  Castillo fired back to back rounds of 2-under-par 70 to finish the event at 4-under-par and eleven strokes clear of the nearest competitor.  Castillo’s final round featured three birdies and an eagle on the day.  Boca Raton native Carson Parker took home the boys 13-15 age division, while Port St. Lucie native Anirudh Mysore took home the boys 16-18 age division. 


The girls 13-18 age division came down to the wire this week.  Palm Beach Gardens native Isabella Galla and Jupiter native Kiley Malmberg each fired opening round 80’s to tie for the lead heading into the final round.  Tequesta native Karly Falanga fired an opening round 81 to put herself within striking distance of the lead.  Falanga put together her lowest tournament round of 75 on Friday to capture the overall girl’s title by two strokes.  Galla would go on to take home the girls 13-15 age division, while Jupiter native Brianna Farrell would take home the girls 16-18 age division.


New comer to the boys 11-12 age division, Ali Berker captured his first victory in the boys 11-12 age division this week.  Berker fired rounds of 73-76.  Jupiter native Isabel Laulhe took home the girls 11-12 age division with rounds of 79-80.

The SFPGA Junior Tour presented by The Honda Classic is a membership-based tour open to boys and girls ages 11-18 in South Florida with the aspirations and skill levels to compete at the High School and Collegiate level and features some of South Florida’s most talented junior golfers. The Junior Tour offers twenty-five two day championship events for junior golfers in South Florida. The 28 events are divided between the Championship Tour, an invitational tour featuring extended yardages, and the Challenge Tour.
