Drive, Chip & Putt Sub-Regional Qualifier

On Saturday, August 19th, Lost Tree Club hosted a Drive, Chip and Putt Sub-Regional Qualifier. 135 junior golfers who qualified at local qualifiers competed for a chance to advance to the Regional Qualifier. The top 2 in each age division will compete at the Regional Qualifer on September 16 at TPC Sawgrass. At the Regional Qualifier, the top finisher in each age division will compete at Augusta National on April 1, 2018. Pano Wins Back-to-Back Drive, Chip and Putt Finals

On April 2, five south Florida PGA juniors competed in the Drive, Chip and Putt Championship at Augusta National on the eve of the 2017 Masters.

Braden Miller of Naples competed in the Boys 10-11 Age Division and finished T8. His best skill was the chipping competition where he took fourth place. Braden’s dad, Jason Miller is the PGA Head Golf Professional at Copperleaf Golf Club in Naples.

Sam Kodak of Naples competed in the Boys 12-13 Age Division. He finished T7 and took second place in the Drive skill. This was Sam’s  second appearance in the Drive, Chip and Putt Finals as he also competed in 2014.

Kayla Bryant of Boca Raton competed in the Girls 7-9 Age Division. Her best skill was in putting where she finished third place.

Chloe Kovelesky, also of Boca Raton, competed in the Girls 10-11 Age Division. Chloe was tied for the lead after the Drive and Chip skill but ended up taking second place overall.

Alexa Pano of Lake Worth competed in the Girls 12-13 Age Division and  took home her second consecutive Drive, Chip and Putt Championship. This was her third time competing in the finals as she qualified in 2013 and 2015. Her consistency in all three skills was a recipe for success as she placed third in Driving and Putting and fourth in Chipping which gave her the overall title.

All five qualifiers are active on the South Florida PGA Junior Tours. Alexa Pano competes on the Championship Tour; Chloe Kovelesky and Sam Kodak compete on the Challenge Tour; Kayla Bryant competes on the Prep Tour and Braden Miller competes in Team Golf.

Congratulations to all five for representing south Florida. We look forward to watching their success on the SFPGA Junior Tour and beyond!

Five South Florida Juniors Will Compete at Drive, Chip and Putt Finals

Five south Florida junior golfers will compete in the upcoming Drive, Chip and Putt Championship on this Sunday (April 2) at Augusta National Golf Club prior to the 2017 Masters Tournament.

Alexa Pano of Lake Worth will compete in the Girls 12-13 Division. This will be here third appearance in the Drive, Chip and Putt Championship, as she was victorious last year in the Girls 10-11 Division. Pano plays on the South Florida PGA Championship Tour.

Braden Miller of Naples will compete in the Boys 10-11 Division. His dad, Jason Miller is the PGA Head Golf Professional at Copperleaf Golf Club in Naples. Braden plays in South Florida PGA Team Golf tournaments.

Chloe Kovelesky of Boca Raton will compete in the Girls 10-11 Division. She qualified for the Drive, Chip and Putt Championship locally at Osprey Point Golf Club. She plays on the South Florida PGA Challenge Tour.

Kayla Bryant of Boca Raton will compete in the Girls 7-9 Division and qualified at Osprey Point Golf Club as well. She plays on the South Florida PGA Prep Tour

Sam Kodak of Naples will compete in the Boys 12-13 Division and qualified at Stoneybrook Golf Club. He plays on the South Florida PGA Challenge Tour.

In 2016, the South Florida PGA hosted 8 local qualifiers and will have 3 juniors (Sam Davey, Chloe Kovelesky and Kayla Bryant ) have advanced to the Drive, Chip and Putt Championship Finals, which will take place on April 2 at Augusta National.

Three Juniors Qualify for Drive, Chip and Putt Finals at Augusta National

On Saturday, September 10th, South Florida juniors competed at the Drive, Chip and Putt Regional Qualifier at TPC Sawgrass. One qualifier in each age division advanced to the Drive, Chip and Putt Championship Finals on April 2, 2017 at Augusta National Golf Club on the eve of the 2017 Masters.

Kayla Bryant of Boca Raton qualified in the girls 7-9 age division. She qualified locally at Osprey Point Golf Course and won the regional qualifier with 135 points. Chloe Kovelesky of Boca Raton qualified in the girls 10-11 age division. She also qualified locally at Osprey Point Golf Course. She won the regional qualifier with 137 points. Samuel Kodak of Naples qualified in the boys 12-13 age division. He qualified locally at Stoneybrook Golf Club of Estero and won the regional qualifier with 144 points.

Sixteen Juniors Advance to Drive, Chip and Putt Regional Qualifier

On Saturday, August 13, the PGA Center for Golf Learning and Performance hosted a Drive, Chip and Putt Sub-Regional Qualifier. The top-3 finishers at the following local qualifiers advanced to the Sub-Regional Qualifier: Stoneybrook Golf Club, PGA National Golf Club, Country Club of Miami, TPC Dorado, Plantation Preserve Golf Course and Osprey Point Golf Course. 144 junior golfers competed to advance to the Regional Qualifier which will take place at TPC Sawgrass on September 10th. PGA National Hosts Drive, Chip and Putt Qualifier

On Tuesday, July 5th, PGA National Golf Club hosted a Drive, Chip and Putt Local Qualifier. Over 150 youth golfers participated in the event and competed in three different skills: drive, chip and putt. Participants had three attempts at each skill and their points were totaled to determine the top 3 in each age division that will move on to the Sub-Regional Qualifier, which will take place at PGA Center for Learning and Performance in Port St. Lucie on August 13thClick here to view the full results from the qualifier. Drive, Chip and Putt Qualifiers Underway in South Florida

On Wednesday, June 8th  the PGA Center for Golf Learning & Performance hosted a Drive, Chip and Putt Local Qualifier. Ninety youth golfers participated in the event and competed in three different skills: drive, chip and putt. Pano Victorious in Drive, Chip and Putt Championship

Today, two South Florida junior golfers competed in the 2016 Drive, Chip & Putt Championship at Augusta National on the eve of the 2016 Masters. NaShawn Tyson of North Palm Beach competed in the Boys 10-11 age division and finished overall in third place. Tyson finished in fifth place in the Drive and Chip competition. In the Putt competition, he barely missed his first place and finished in second place. Tyson qualified for the Drive, Chip & Putt Championship on a local level at PGA Center for Golf Learning and Performance in Port St. Lucie.

Alexa Pano of Lake Worth competed in her second Drive, Chip & Putt Championship. After a disappointing finish in the 2014 Championship finals, Pano was determined to win. This year, she took fourth place in the Putt competition, second in the Chip competition and won the Drive competition. Overall, Pano was the winner of the Girls 10-11 Age Division. She qualified for the Drive, Chip & Putt on a local level at PGA National Golf Club last summer.

Both Tyson and Pano are current members of the South Florida PGA Junior Tour. New to the Challenge Tour, Tyson took home fourth place in his first event at the Challenge Tour Event #1 at Fountains Country Club this year. Pano has been a member of the South Florida PGA Junior Tour since 2013 and has seen great success. In her first year, she finished in the top-5 in 6 out of 7 events. More recently, Pano finished in second place in the 2016 South Florida PGA Pukka Junior Championship.

This youth golf development initiative will again include boys and girls ages 7-15, who will compete in separate divisions in four age categories. In fourth year, the Drive, Chip and Putt Championship will provide playing opportunities throughout all 50 states during the months of May, June, July and August. Participants will compete to qualify for the National Finals at Augusta National on Sunday, April 2nd.

South Florida will feature 8 Local Qualifiers during June and July and 1 Sub-Regional Qualifier.
